LINA FRANKO was born in Zagreb, graduated in 2004 as a master student of Rissa at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Started at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1996, she studied free art/painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the classes of Rissa and Albert Oehlen from 1998 to 2004. In 2007 and 2011 she was nominated for the Förderpreis for emerging artists in Düsseldorf.

In her work she explores the idea of timelessness, simultaneity, the temporal and spatial continuum permeating all artistic genres without hierarchies.
She has exhibited in various museums in Croatia and internationally, including the Vll and XI Triennials of Croatian Sculpture in Zagreb, the Museum Lazareti in Dubrovnik, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Eupen and other galleries and project spaces in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Zagreb and Dubrovnik. She presented Croatia at "The Beijing International Art Biennale" in Beijing.

In 2018, she founded the RIZOM [ K ] Art Association, based in Frankopan Castle in Kraljevica. Together with the Dusseldorf-based art association RHIZOM [ D ] & Andi Slawinski she is art director of the European art project 3rd-SPACE.EU/ rope.

The German-Croatian long-term project with exhibitions, theatre, film, music and literature events, as well as residency programmes, is currently the focus of her artistic-curatorial work and is her own contribution to the substantive and cultural debates in EU/ropa.
